LWV of Delta County Marquette County Unit Membership Meeting. The League of Women Voters of Delta County, Marquette County Unit will be meeting on Wednesday, July 11th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in Room 202 at the Messiah Lutheran Church on 305 Magnetic Street in Marquette. We have had a busy month since our last meeting and we have lots of updates. We had a great time participating in our first parade at the 4th of July parade in Marquette. Our new Leadership Committee met in June and began reviewing the bylaws and policies templates. This committee has created increasing confidence in our group as we continue to grow, add new projects and develop increasing independence taking steps towards becoming a Member-At-Large Unit. With the Primary Election right around the corner we'll spend some time talking about what's on the ballot and our Marquette City Commission Candidate Forum scheduled for July 25th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the City Commission Chambers in Marquette. The Promote the Vote Coordinator will share a refresher on the ballot initiative and let us know where it stands on its path to the Michigan ballot in November! Our Observer Corps Coordinator has some updates on the project and would like to remind members that there are lots of other communities where we could use observers. Being an Observer Corps Volunteer is a great way to learn about the government in your area and stay in tune with the decisions they are making and what issues they are working on. We will have an update on our Voter Registration/Education (VRVE) work. We have two new VRVE Project Coordinators. With their efforts and with the guidance and support of our other seasoned Voter Registration Coordinators this group has been growing and gaining momentum!! Consider joining them and volunteering at a community event this summer. Come and learn about the materials, training and mentoring the Coordinators have developed to help new VRVE volunteers get started and find out about the opportunities this summer to help register people to vote! Come to the meeting to get to know us and learn more about the League.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Consider joining us!! If you would like more information about the meeting or the LWV in Marquette just comment on this post or send us a message and we'll be in touch!
